Terms of Service
Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms govern your use of SaunaTrail at saunatrail.ie and at any other address we serve it from. By using the site you agree to them, and when you create an account, claim or add a listing, or arrange a promoted placement, you agree to them again. They are written to be read, so please do. If you have a question, write to hello@saunatrail.ie.
1. Who we are
SaunaTrail (“SaunaTrail”, “we”, “us”) is an independent directory of saunas in Ireland, operated from Ireland by its founder, Greg Dolan. We are not a sauna, we do not own or operate any of the venues we list, and we are not the agent of any of them.
2. What the directory is
The directory exists to help people find and compare saunas, and to help the businesses that run them be found. Listings are compiled from information the businesses have published, from details the businesses give us directly, and from our own research. We work hard to keep them accurate, and any business can claim its listing and correct it at any time, but details such as prices, opening hours, facilities and availability are set by the businesses and change without notice.
For that reason the directory is provided for information only. Before travelling, spending money or relying on any detail, confirm it with the venue directly. We do not endorse any venue, and a listing is not a recommendation.
3. Using a sauna safely
Saunas, cold plunges and sea swimming carry real health risks, particularly for people who are pregnant, have heart or blood pressure conditions, or have been drinking alcohol. Nothing on SaunaTrail is medical advice. If you are unsure whether sauna use is safe for you, ask a doctor first. When you visit a venue you do so at your own risk and under that venue’s own rules, waivers and supervision. Any agreement you make with a venue is between you and the venue.
4. Claiming a listing and owner accounts
A business may claim its listing, or submit a new one, by creating an owner account. To do so you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- own the business, or be authorised by its owner to represent it;
- give us accurate information and keep it accurate.
We review claims and new listings before they go live, and we may ask for evidence that you are connected to the business. We may decline a claim, or reverse one, if we are not satisfied it is genuine. Claims are free.
You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address, so keep that email account secure, and tell us straight away if you believe someone else has used your account. Owners may add staff to a listing and are responsible for what those staff do.
5. Content you provide
You keep ownership of the photographs, text and other material you add to a listing. By adding it you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store it, display it on SaunaTrail and in previews of SaunaTrail (for example in search results and social media link previews), resize, crop and format it for display, edit text as described below, create accessibility descriptions of images, and share it with the providers we use to host and process the site for those purposes only. The licence lasts as long as the content is on the site and for up to 30 days afterwards while copies clear. You can remove your own content from your dashboard at any time.
You promise that content you provide:
- is yours to give, or you have the rights-holder’s permission;
- does not show any identifiable person without their consent;
- is accurate and not misleading about the business;
- is lawful, and does not infringe anyone’s rights or contain anything defamatory, obscene or hateful.
We may edit descriptions for length, clarity and house style. We may remove content that we reasonably believe breaks these promises, or that the law requires us to remove. If we remove your content, suspend your account or take down your listing, we will tell you what we did and why, unless the law prevents us, and you can ask us to look again by writing to hello@saunatrail.ie. A person reviews every such request.
6. Content from public sources
Some listing details, photographs and reviews are reproduced from sources where the business or the reviewer has already published them, such as public business listings and venues’ own websites. We record where each item came from, and copyright in that material stays with its owner.
If you own material shown on SaunaTrail and want it corrected or removed, email hello@saunatrail.ie with a link to the listing and we will act promptly. A business that has claimed its listing can correct its details and remove photographs itself from its dashboard. We do not accept reviews directly, and a reviewer who would rather their review did not appear here can ask us to remove it.
7. Promoted placements
We may show some listings in promoted positions, such as the Spotlight and Featured positions on our home page, directory and county pages. Promoted placements are always labelled, and a listing carrying a Promoted or Featured label has been placed there by arrangement with us. Otherwise, where a listing appears is not influenced by any payment. A promoted placement changes where a listing appears, never what it says, and it does not affect how we describe the venue. Placements are arranged directly with us, and the dates, price and any refund are agreed in writing at the time. We do not guarantee any particular number of views, clicks, enquiries or bookings from a placement.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- claim a listing for a business you are not connected to, or submit a listing for a business that does not exist;
- use our contact form, or any other part of the site, to send spam, abuse or anything unlawful;
- copy the directory, in whole or in substantial part, by scraping, crawling or any other automated means, other than by search engines indexing the public site in line with our robots.txt file;
- interfere with the site’s operation or security, or try to access data or accounts that are not yours;
- collect contact details from the directory to send unsolicited bulk messages to the businesses listed here.
9. Our content and brand
The SaunaTrail name, the design of the site, our descriptions, the way we select, arrange and present listings, and everything else we have created are ours, and are protected by copyright, database right and other rights. The map background is provided by a third-party map service using open data under its own licence, credited on the map itself. You may use the site to find saunas and share links to listings. You may not reproduce our content elsewhere without our written permission, other than short quotations with a link back to us.
10. Other websites and services
Listings link to venues’ websites, social media pages, and third-party map and directions services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or how they handle your data. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you follow a link.
11. Bookings
Any booking you make with a venue, whether by phone, by email, or through the venue’s own website, is made directly with that venue under its own terms, and SaunaTrail is not a party to it.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to keep SaunaTrail available at all times but cannot guarantee it, and we may suspend the site for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We may change, add to or remove features of the free service at any time.
We may also change these terms, for example to reflect a change in the law, a new feature, a change in how the site is run, or to make them clearer. Minor changes take effect when we publish them here, with the date at the top updated. If a change is material and you hold an account, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, through your dashboard or by email, and if you do not agree you may close your account before that date. A change never applies to anything that happened before it took effect. Continuing to use the site after a change has taken effect means you accept it.
13. Disclaimer
We provide the site and the directory as they are. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that the information is complete, accurate or current, that the site will be free of errors or interruptions, or that it will suit your particular needs. The details on a listing belong to the venue and change without notice, so check with the venue before you rely on them (see section 2).
14. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or by anyone acting for us, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have as a consumer under Irish or European Union law, and if anything in this section conflicts with those rights, those rights prevail.
If you use SaunaTrail as a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for anything that happens at a venue, for the accuracy of information a venue or another third party has supplied to us, or for other websites and services we link to.
If you use SaunaTrail for the purposes of a business, including as an owner, a staff member or a buyer of a promoted placement, then, subject to the first paragraph of this section, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, business, goodwill or data, and our total liability to you for everything arising from the site in any period of twelve months is limited to one hundred euro (EUR 100) or the amount you paid us for promoted placements in that period, whichever is greater.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account, or remove a listing, if these terms are broken, if a claim turns out not to be genuine, if the business closes, or if the law requires it. We will tell you why, unless the law prevents us, and you can ask us to reconsider as described in section 5. You may close your account at any time by writing to us; the listing itself may remain in the directory as a business record, with your account details removed.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. You can bring a claim about them in the courts of Ireland. If you are a consumer living in another country of the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country, you may bring a claim in its courts, and we will only bring a claim against you there. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
17. Contact
Questions about these terms: hello@saunatrail.ie or the contact page. For anything about personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
