Saunas in Cavan

Cavan is lake country. The drumlins roll on for miles and the water fills every hollow between them: Lough Ramor at Virginia, Lough Oughter and the Killykeen forests around Killashandra, and hundreds of smaller lakes that most maps never bother to name. Saunas in Cavan are built around that water. A hot session followed by a cold dip in still, fresh lake water is the county's version of the sea swim, and it is quieter than any beach.

The saunas listed here are spread across the county: Éalú Sauna at Cootehill, Lakeside Saunas Virginia on the shore at Lough Ramor, an outdoor sauna at Killashandra, and The Nook Sauna at Tullyvin. Between them you will find a wood-fired stove, cold plunges and changing areas, and the kind of setting where the only sound after the sauna is the water. Cavan is an easy drive from Dublin, Meath and the north, and it makes a good midweek escape when the coast is too far. Monaghan and Westmeath, both lakeland counties too, are next door.
