Heron sits on the bank of the Barrow at St Mullin's, one of the most quietly beautiful corners of Carlow. The wood-fired sauna looks out over the water, and you can take the cold half beside it or step into the river itself. A cafe next door handles the afterwards. Visitors call it their favourite sauna experience, and the setting is most of the reason.

“Heron Sauna is definitely worth the visit, a beautiful outdoor sauna, located in one of the most mystical and scenic places in Carlow. Staff are super friendly and there is a place to grab coffee and relax and take in the surroundings. A beautiful addition to St.Mullins. There is thoughtful care & love that went into the space.”

“Can recommend this sauna enough. The lads are so welcoming and sound, and the sauna itself is gorgeous. They keep working to improve the experience, and they keep getting it right! Temperatures are nice and high, the plunge is really spacious and the changing facilities are well laid out. Defo worth a visit!”
