About this sauna

Sauna Sessions runs two wood-fired Finnish-style saunas near Stradbally, one kept hotter than the other so there's a choice of heat. Outside there are cold showers, buckets and a swimming area, with a hot tub added more recently. Regulars rate it as good value for the hour, and Ulla's welcome comes up again and again.

First day of day time opening and it was top class. Ulla was as always very friendly and professional. Sauna was spotless and well tended. Thursdays are a must going forward. Keep up the great work

This is a genuine review. Really nice setup - cold shower, buckets, swimming area, and a lovely Finnish style sauna 🔥 Edit: 30/09 after my second visit. Great value at €15 for an hour, and the recent addition of the wood fired hot tub is very nice! The sauna is also very clean. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could - all that's missing is a toilet, because you know, nature calls. Edit: 23/12, Really nice experience visiting after dark when it's all lit up ✨️ and the fire is going 🔥 Plenty of parking now too, albeit a bit muddy at this time of year. Edit 20/02: My fifth visit - This sauna has been much improved with the addition of a further two saunas, a toilet, a tea room, and a separate reception area. The changing room is cramped and the lockers are limited, but it looks like they are extending them 🤞 Bumping it up to 5🌟 Edit 18/04: I've lost count of how many times I've now visited Sauna Sessions. The setup is improving all the time now with enlarged changing rooms, a second wood

I can see how this would be great if it was properly managed, but unfortunately it is not. The setting is lovely and the facilities/ saunas are good, however I have come on 2 occasions and both have been overbooked and chaotic experiences with no staff supervision. The first time when we arrived there were no lockers free and the tiny changing room was full. There was meant to be a second women's changing room, but there was a man in there! The main sauna was full. The one hot tub that was open was full for the entire time we were there. We used in the smaller sauna that had some free space. As our hour went on, it got a bit quieter halfway through and I realised the reason it was so packed was because people from the previous session just stayed on for as long as they wanted as there are no staff members monitoring things. Then more people from the next session arrived early so it got crowded again 15minutes before out time was up! They really should have staff members keeping track o

Genuinely the most relaxing, and well-placed sauna I have frequented. Nestled within a woodland, with a front-row view of the stream (which doubles as the ultimate cold-plunge), you couldn’t ask for more.
