Saunas in Laois

Laois sits right in the middle of Ireland, with the Slieve Bloom Mountains along its western edge and the Barrow forming the border with Kildare and Carlow. It is inland heat, far from any coast, and the saunas listed here make a virtue of that: quiet settings, wood-fired stoves and cold plunges in fresh water rather than salt.

Sauna Sessions is at Stradbally, below the Rock of Dunamase, THE GOAT House Sauna is at Maganey on the Barrow, and Woodfield Sauna is at Ballickmoyler in the south-east of the county. Changing areas and cold plunges feature. Laois is well placed for a midlands loop: Kildare, Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Offaly all border it, and the Slieve Blooms give a proper day's walking to earn the sauna. Stradbally is the closest to the M7 for a stop on the way south-west, and the Barrow at Maganey gives the county the cold river water it otherwise lacks.
