About this sauna

Cois Farraige looks out over Mal Bay from White Strand, and it is thirty seconds' stroll from the sauna door to the sea. That quick transition from hot to cold is exactly what regulars come for. There's plenty of room inside, you can often turn up without booking, and on the right evening the sunset does the rest.

Neglected sauna, badly oversubscribed, uncomfortable atmosphere. Booked the 10am session and turned up to find the barrel sauna (max ~10 people) crammed with 17 GAA players; myself and my partner were squeezed out entirely. The sauna itself hadn't been cleaned: dirty floor, dirty glass, and rotting wood on parts of the benches. After a sea dip 15 minutes in, we couldn't get back inside, the owner had opened the internal door and turned the vestibule into extra sauna space to try to fit everyone in. As the only woman there, being jeered at ("yeo come on in, over here") while trying to get back in was genuinely unpleasant. To their credit, an older staff member working alongside the younger one recognised the problem immediately, was very apologetic, and ensured we got a full refund plus an offer of a free future session (though as we were on holiday, that wasn't much use). Disappointing end to our trip to Clare, and by far the worst-run sauna I've experienced in Ireland.

Lovely spot for a sauna and sea swim. Nice easy access to the sea. I prefer a quick transition from hot to cold and of the three saunas in the area, this one allows for the the fastest dip into the water.

Amazing views, fair price and a sound owner. What more can you ask for.

A beautiful setting, with a gorgeous view of the sea and cove. The sauna is a nice size and a thirty second stroll to be waist high in the sea. Michael is sound to deal with also. And at 10e for 45mins, very well priced for the relaxing / rejuvenating experience... 👍🏻
