Saunas in Wicklow

Wicklow is the Garden of Ireland, and it brings sauna heat inland as well as to the sea: mountain valleys at Glenmalure and Glendalough, the Blessington lakes, forest trails above Enniskerry, and a coast that runs from Bray and Greystones down through Kilcoole and Newcastle to Wicklow town, Brittas Bay and Arklow. It is one of the busiest sauna counties in the country, and all of it is within an hour of the capital.

Greystones, Bray and Arklow are the busiest spots; Wicklow town has saunas at the harbour and at Hawkstown; Kilcoole, Newcastle and Newtown Mount Kennedy fill the coast between. Inland there are saunas at Enniskerry, at Glenmalure deep in the mountains, at Donard in west Wicklow, and at Blessington by the lakes. Wood-fired and barrel saunas dominate, nearly all have a cold plunge, and changing areas, showers, sea views and group bookings are common. Dublin, Kildare, Carlow and Wexford border the county.

An Sruthán is hidden away in Wicklow, and the thing that sets it apart is a plunge pool fed by a natural spring.
