Saunas in Mayo

Mayo is big Atlantic country: Achill Island, Clew Bay under Croagh Patrick, the empty surf beaches of Erris and the Moy at Ballina. The cold water is as much the point as the heat, and the county's saunas sit right on it. They run from Keel and Dugort on Achill to Louisburgh on Clew Bay, Belmullet on the Erris peninsula, and an island sauna on Inishturk.

Louisburgh has saunas of its own; Achill has Sabhna Saunas at both Keel Beach and Dugort Beach; Inishturk has Bothán Te; Belmullet has Sona Sauna; Ballina has West Coast Sauna Co at the rugby club; and a mobile sauna at Kilmovee serves the east of the county. Wood-fired saunas lead, with a barrel sauna and beach saunas among them, and changing areas, cold plunges and showers are common. A sauna after a swim at Keel with the cliffs behind you is one of the best hours the west coast offers. Sligo and Galway continue the coast.
