Saunas in Galway

Galway runs from Salthill's prom and the diving tower at Blackrock, out along the Connemara coast to Spiddal, Lettermullan, Ballyconneely and Renvyle, and off the mainland to the Aran Islands and Inishbofin. It is the county where city-edge convenience and island wildness sit closest together, and its saunas reflect that, from Salthill and Silverstrand a few minutes from Eyre Square to island saunas on Inis Mór and Inishbofin.

Along the coast there are saunas at Spiddal, Oranmore, Silverstrand and Kinvarra on the edge of the Burren, and further west at Lettermullan, where seaweed baths and a sauna share a site, Ballyconneely and Renvyle. Inland, Loughrea has saunas of its own, and Cornamona sits on the shore of Lough Corrib. Wood-fired and barrel saunas are the norm, most have a cold plunge, and changing areas and showers are common. A sauna on Inis Mór or Inishbofin after the ferry is a day out in itself. Mayo and Clare continue the Atlantic coast north and south.
